the posture corrector is a trending and evergreen product to sell online right now

Everyone needs a product or is looking for a product to buy offline or online.

It’s a nightmare to find products to sell online.

The product you think of selling is being sold or the market is filled with the same kind of product.

This kind of confusion creates headaches instead of enthusiasm for people that want to sell online.

To lessen the confusion of finding products to sell online, find and sell products that are essential, high demand or popular goods/services.

Your products can be digital or physical.

Niche products serve a specific customer base/target audience therefore you must know about your customer’s preferences.

The emphasis here should be nothing is new or unique no matter a blog’s headlines.

Even in the bible, Solomon noted that nothing is new on the earth anymore. What’s new is you.

Your uniqueness makes products new.

So what uniqueness are you bringing to the market?

How will you find the target audience?

Is the market big enough to make you big profits?

29 Powerful and Proven Strategies for Finding Products to Sell Online

  1. Pay attention to customers’ common frustrations.

Pain points help you improve an existing product and that makes business

2. What are the current events?

Current events shape the kinds of products that the mass market wants.

What are the current market trends now?

Electric vehicles, working from home/online, vacation rentals/Airbnb, staycations, wearable technology, mobile phones, TikTok, YouTube, Instagram are becoming more popular and a part of Kenya’s life.

What these market trends tell you is that products or accessories in these categories/niche markets will sell.

3. Use industry leaders/influencers

What are leaders saying about wearable technology?

The CBK director announced that Kenya is trying a digital coin.

Ask yourself what does this mean? How can you profit from such a venture?

Same way, influencers within/outside your interested category may announce a particular product they discovered on Amazon Finds and believe it’s an awesome item.

Listening to industry leaders or influencers within or outside your niche market helps you explore the products that people want to buy.

4. What are people asking on Google People Also Ask?

I always hated the extra questions people asked on Google then one day I said, ‘’What happens in this section of Google’s People Also Ask’’?

I discovered questions people ask about working online in Kenya and writing online in Kenya and business ideas.

Since then, I use Google’s section of People Also Ask to uncover topics for discussion.

You get to Google’s section of People Also Ask after a Google search.

Don’t and stop ignoring those extra questions people ask about something you Google about.

Those questions offer clues to what interests people.

5. What are people asking on Quora?

I love asking Quora some questions.

If you search for What products to sell online, quora’s answers appear on Google’s page one.

Questions people ask on Quora offer insights into what people are interested in.

Click on the answer given on Quora then scroll down to uncover other related questions to help you find products to sell online.

6. What are your competitors selling?

Competitors reveal to you the best products to sell.

Who are the competitors in your niche?

What are they selling?

What and how do they market the product they sell?

Stalk your competitors on Facebook, Instagram and check how they market or get customers.

How can you stand out from your competitors?

What are they not selling? Seeing gaps from your competitors helps you find products and new customers.

7. Examine the history

What’s the history of say selling laptops? How did it begin?

What is the history telling you about consumers buying laptops in 2015 or earlier?

What motivated them? What kind of laptop sold the most and how can you sell it today?

What can appeal to the new and hip customers’ tastes?

Vintage or history has a new market these days.

People get drawn to old things because they realise old is gold and lasts.

8. Specialise

Specialising is the best way to find products to sell online.

I love talking about specialising or niching out all the time, it’s what I learnt from others.

But I’m discovering that niching out doesn’t have to mean limiting yourself from selling other potential products.

For example, if you love selling portable blenders what other popular kitchen product/s can you sell and profit from?

When choosing a niche, don’t sell a product choose products you can sell.

You can introduce other products within the kitchen category that you know are profitable or aren’t in the Kenyan market.

Pit products against each other, products of the same category, to know what sells better.

After getting known as the kitchen reseller in Kenya, you can introduce other products from other categories like the garden, home renovation or other popular categories.

9. Can you make content around the product you choose?

I find a lot of online sellers or sellers in general, even big stores like Masoko don’t create content for their products.

You’re not Amazon that people shop on there without asking.

Why not create content for products you sell to help you find new customers?

Content creation helps you uncover keywords potential customers use when searching or shopping on Amazon.

Plus, telling customers how to use a certain product helps them know they’re buying something they will use and not store it away.

Remember content isn’t limited to blogging but also creating videos on YouTube where you review the good, ugly and bad of the product you sell then telling customers why they need the product.

10. What’s the purpose of your product?

If your product doesn’t have a purpose, you cannot get customers to buy.

Why are you selling portable blenders or beard oil?

Products with purpose help you get products to sell online because you get to explain to customers why they must purchase this product from you.

Also, you can focus on how a product makes a customer feels after use.

11. Appeal to hobbyists/collectors/fans /enthusiasts

I’m a sewing, cooking, crochet, quilting hobbyist and any other task I can do myself.

It’s easy for me to splurge on fabrics, ingredients, yarn which is now in storage because I have to work on this blog.

That’s how hobbyists are they spend a fortune on things they love.

And that’s why hobbyists are getting rewarded online by creating YouTube or social media channels that earn them money to continue funding their crafts.

What hobby do you see is popular in Kenya?

How can you reach customers?

What do they ship from abroad because it’s not in the market?

How can you convince them to buy from you?

What attracts them to buy outside the country and not in Kenya?

Hobbyists don’t mind paying a premium to fund their pleasures but they mind when they visit your shop and it lacks variety.

A dropshipping store with craft supplies of all kinds would be a great starting point.

12. Your passions

My passion is curiosity and it took me a lot of time to discover I love changing the world with my words.

Words are powerful and they hurt or uplift.

What’s your passion?

Are there people sharing your passion?

What do they say they lack in terms of products or services. ‘’Oh my before you get a good golf ball, you have to buy from Amazon or Nike, I wish someone sold those kinds in Kenya’.

That statement is already a clue to you that we need gold balls, now bring all the variety they sell to appease customers.

Your passions open you up to what’s missing in your field/industry and you know what’s missing because you spend time learning or perfecting what you’re passionate about.

13. What’s your job?

I love that I do and follow my writing passion.

How blessed can one be in this life?

What’s your job whether you love it or not?

Inside your job you can discover a few things, your coworkers complain about.

Is it that they fear the rainy season?

How can you appeal to them with your product or service?

Your job helps you find products to sell online because people complain a lot in their jobs and those complaints are clues for you.

14. What are the trends?

Trends are good and important but some trends fade away.

Jumping on a trend before it becomes a norm is awesome but don’t feel bad if a trend passes you.

Trends make you realise the potential or release a new product as long as it serves the customers.

Trends allow you to innovate new products customers haven’t seen.

15. What are customer reviews saying?

Reviews help you find what customers love or hate about a product.

Have you ever bought something on Amazon and got amazed at how the Amazon community is genuine with the experiences of the products they use?

In your niche/industry, research products you want to sell then check reviews on Amazon to see what customers love or hate.

Then use the hate reviews to refurbish or remake a product to customers’ taste.

Follow Amazon’s recipe: DAY ONE.

Serve customers as if it’s day one and always tweak to accommodate customers as it’ll always be day one.

16. Use keywords to search for products to sell online

Keywords help you uncover what to sell online.

What industry keywords do customers use when searching for something to buy is provided on Google.

Searching for something to sell has never been easy because of keywords use.

17. Use Pinterest

I love Pinterest it’s one of those social media that people undermine but I have been on Pinterest since 2013.

I didn’t know how to use it. Since not many Kenyans were there, I wanted to dominate Pinterest.

Pinterest helps you get trending products to sell.

A simple Pinterest search brings you the suggestions (a drop-down menu like on YouTube or Google) of what customers want.

Next time you’re tempted on ignoring Pinterest, know it’s a valuable resource to discover products and ideas of products customers search for.

18. What are people buying offline?

When running your shopping errands what products do customers get drawn to mostly?

No matter where you shop in the supermarket, streets what do customers throng to buy no matter the pandemic or anything?

Keep your ears on the ground to what customers buy then get ideas for products to sell online.

19. Use the search bar on popular sites like Amazon

Amazon Best Fid, Amazon Most Wished For, Etsy Best-Selling, Etsy Popular, Pinterest Popular, Trending on eBay help you find products customers are buying today.

Some products aren’t seasonal trending but products you can keep selling in your store.

Finding a product on these search terms means you must stop your research there ask customers what they want or if the product you discovered is something they’re attracted to.

20. Start with a lower product that has a high resale value

Know the sweet spot for promoting impulse buying is 1000 – 5000 shillings some customers are willing to pay more; know your customers first.

Buy at a lower price then sell at a profit.

Most of the products on Amazon are retail prices but not on Alibaba or other wholesale sites.

Every store has its advantages and disadvantages.

21. What related products can you sell?

A lot of online sellers ignore the potentiality of a single product.

For example, the portable blender, it’s not the only blender customers use or want.

There are other million kitchens or related blenders that customers want from storage containers for their fruits to glasses/customised cups for drinking their smoothies in.

It’s important to love your niche in order for you to understand what customers will buy in relation to what you want to sell.

The best question to ask is, what else can I sell besides this blender that will interest my customer?

Think like the customer.

23. Keep an open mind /eye

You may want to sell a particular product only to realise how oversaturated is or whatever you wanted to sell doesn’t have the Magnifique reaction you expected.

Finding the right product to sell online requires a lot of testing, trial and error.

Jeff Bezos will tell you.

When a customer requests for something that’s outside what you wanted to sell, ask yourself, how soon can I avail what customers want?

Keeping an open eye and mind means you’re open to ideas that aren’t what you thought about or unrelated to what you wanted to sell.

24. Choose a specific target audience

Choosing a specific target audience means you know your audience and what they want to buy from you.

Finding a target audience means finding products to sell to them.

For example, you can choose to sell to parents.

But ask yourself with an abundance of items to buy what can you sell?

For example, big toys for kids worth more than 10k.

Choosing a specific audience can get confusing for newbie sellers because of not know what customers want.

Be patient and listen to customers before choosing to cater for an audience.

Also ensure the product you choose is something your audience will come back for over and over and that the audience is big therefore profitable.

It can be a hit or miss with a specific target audience.

Remember you can always move to another profitable category if your desired one doesn’t work out.

25. Do geo-targeting /region targeting

Geotargeting or region targeting means getting products to sell.

When writing a blog, I love including Kenya because I don’t know anything about Uganda.

My niche keyword/geotag is still too broad, if I was to start a new blog today or YouTube channel, I’d go for smaller niches like Mombasa Life/Nakuru/Nairobi Life.

I’d narrow my audience to help me get known faster.

Google loves geotagging they help your content go up in the first place of search.

Geotagging means you know your customers well because you’re one of the customers and know what misses in your region.

For example, I realised no one sold pillows in Mtwapa or bags, my original idea, not custom-made ones.

And I walked the mile to search in other smaller Mombasa regions and realised they sold only ready-made pillows.

When I started making, I got customers in three months and 100k profit in 3 months.

26. Keep an eye on overseas

These days keeping your eyes peeled overseas helps you keep an idea of what products to sell online.

Keeping an eye overseas became easier with social media platforms like TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and even Google.

What do people from other countries buy that aren’t available in Kenya?

28. Have a 24-hour or two-day shipping fulfilment

I stopped myself from selling products I have/haven’t made because of the shipping hassle.

Shipping gets daunting for any business owner.

Shipping within a day isn’t exactly a formula for getting products to sell online but gets you, new customers.

You must get organised so as not to mix orders and have proper packaging so that customers receive what they ordered and in good condition.

29. Differentiate yourself

It’s hard to differentiate yourself from a sea of noise from other online sellers selling products like yours.

Differentiating yourself can be as simple as offering the best products or range of products in the same category/niche or shipping within a day and offering excellent customer service.

Do you know why Amazon succeeds over the rest?

The shipping, best customer service, range of products, delivery.

It may seem like a lot to grasp for a small business but before you begin selling, start determining your success by learning from those that came before you.

The more different you’re by offering the best, the more customer you get and customers come with different suggestions and needs.

What Makes Your Products Sell More Online? Tips for Ecommerce Marketing

The following are business strategies to help you sell more online. The strategies include:

  1. Brand name

What’s your brand name?

Don’t overlook branding as other online sellers do.

When creating your website ensure you have the name of your brand, the logo and create a website.

If people forget your name, then can they use your logo to find you?

Branding is creating a cohesiveness to your marketing messages so let your social media messages match with your website.

Let your brand create or make a story.

2. Website Design

Also, categorise your products in a way that’s easy for your customers to understand.

3. Marketing

Small business owners online don’t love marketing their products.

They believe marketing is a one-time opportunity.

Businesses no matter online or offline must always advertise their products.

Have a social media marketing plan and stick to your schedule.

Choose a social media you want to get started with; start with one, master the social media before moving to other platforms.

Don’t advertise online alone, find a strategy for taking your business offline so that customers find you and your products. Not every customer is online or offline.

Customers shop differently.

Do you know why Coca-Cola despite being 100 years old is successful?

Because they never stop marketing, they never stop talking about their product.

They know customers are on the lookout for new brands to shop for themselves.

Improve by partnering with fulfilment partners to enable your customers to get their products quickly.

Tips for Success When Selling Online

  1. Ask if your product fulfilling an immediate need

Candies are for immediate gratification.

I see how emotional my child gets when I say ‘No candy’ today.

Candies don’t solve problems.

Just like candies, candy products sales fall, they go out of style and people remember them when they see them.

Do you want to see a candy product?

You want to ask.

Do you want to sell a product like a painkiller that solves your problem and you need it asap when you have a headache?

Or do you want to sell a multivitamin which people associate with words like, ‘It’s not a must when you eat and exercise well but still it feels good to take one?’’.

What kind of product do you want to sell?

For example, we wouldn’t need cooking pots if we didn’t cook food in pots and roasted our food over fire; some people still do this.

We wouldn’t need soap if things never got dirty.

Your problem has to be a painkiller that solves problems headaches.

But combining a multi-vitamin and a candy can also give you a product that people want.

Painkillers make you more money if you find the right product.

2. Can/does your product add value?

What value does your product add to me?

Why should I buy your product and not the other one?

Before selling anything ask the result you want your customers to feel.

By writing blog posts like this one, I want you to feel you can achieve it and have a different mindset than when you came here.

Every product must have a solution otherwise there’s no point.

3. Is there a demand for your product?

Don’t sell products people have to guess why they must buy them.

If customers ask you why they must buy your product it means they don’t have a need for it or your marketing isn’t telling them why they need it.

Would you buy something you wouldn’t use?

Some people buy/collect luxury products not to use but for instant gratification then they end up storing the product without using or using minimally, you say.

Remember, luxury products are in high demand and people will buy them no matter the economic situation.

4. Is the product too competitive?

If you want to sell a highly competitive product, you must ask yourself, how will you stand out from the competition.

A high competitive product means there’s demand for it.

Contrary to popular wisdom, don’t sell what’s already in the market, I am asking you to sell this product that’s high competition.

Why? You develop stamina for marketing because you know if you don’t market you will sleep hungry.

You also learn how to stand out from the crowd. No matter the competition in the writing industry everyone that wants to work online is a writer.

Why? Writers are in demand, those who stick for a long time make it majority give up.

What do you bring to the table? What makes your cooking pot unique?

What makes you you?

Think along those lines.

Bring related products like accessories when selling in a high competition niche.

Your competitors rarely think of accessories, they do when they see a small business owner selling them.

Be ahead of the game.

LuluLemon, Gymshark didn’t stop because of giants like Nike.

Nike wasn’t stopped by Adidas.

This shows you to find a gap and use that gap to market yourself in a competitive environment.

Dell wasn’t stopped by Apple.

There is a customer for your uniqueness because customers want to try new products and they’re eager to work with you.

5. Are your margins enough?

If you’re not making a profit in your business, then your margins aren’t sustainable.

What needs to happen?

Adjusting your price by increasing or stopping bringing this product in your store?

6. Is your niche enough?

If your niche isn’t big enough, you won’t make the necessary profit or the amount of money you want.
